An aged-care customer needed to replace an existing CCTV system that operated over coaxial cable. Other quotations proposed running fibre throughout the facility, which was technically strong but well above the available budget. Pacific reviewed the site and designed a lower-cost upgrade that retained the existing coaxial cabling and used Ethernet-over-coax converters. Pacific also explained that the converters introduced extra complexity and another possible failure point. The customer completed the upgrade within budget, and more than 24 months later the site had experienced very few issues. The case demonstrates fit-for-purpose engineering rather than automatically choosing the most expensive design.
